Cupcake Kitties

I made cupcake kitties to celebrate Kat's birthday, complete with fur and fishie snacks. Yum!

The eyes were mini M&M's, the noses and tongues were Starburst, the cheeks were Mentos, the eyebrows were licorice.

The fur was the hardest part, but I got the hang of it by the time I got to the gray kitties. The orange ones are... extra fuzzy long hairs?

This kitty would really like to hold on to his white chocolate fishie snack with his marshmallow paws. Don't take it away! Nooooo!

Shhh! This one is sleeping. Or REALLY content.

In classic over achiever style, I made a calico kitteh. It took forever, since you have to do concentric circles with the frosting fur. I could only do about three squirts and then I would have to switch colors. I was covered in frosting by the time I was done. I also disposed of the leftover frosting by squirting all three colors into Scott's mouth at once. "Don't get it on my sweater!!"

The ears were created by cutting up Famous chocolate wafers, sticking them in the cupcakes, and frosting over them.

I was really happy with the way they came out, and I can't wait to do some more.

I would love to do this and sell them - especially over the summer when I'm not teaching. Anyone have any ideas?
